In the south of Morocco, there is much more than sunny, mountainous, hilly, desert and oasis landscapes. The region also abounds in a unique architectural wealth with its Ksours and Kasbahs, offering a Route of a Thousand Kasbahs that will enchant history and architecture lovers.

The craft heritage of southern Morocco is also not to be missed, with carpets of characteristic shapes and colors being the most common handicrafts in the region. The local pottery and silver jewelry are also of high quality and beauty.

The south of Morocco is also home to Zaouïas, religious centers that are the witness of a rich culture and spirituality. The Zaouïa Sidi Ahmed Ben Nacer in Tamegrout is one of the most famous and has a renowned library.

Folklore is also very present in southern Morocco, with traditional dances such as the Ahidous in the region of Kelaat M'gouna, Boumalne Dadés, Tinghir, or the Ahwach in the region of Ouarzazate. Cultural events are numerous, with festivals, moussems and feasts celebrating local culture. The most famous include the engagement festival in Imilchil, the rose festival in Kelaat M'gouna, or the Ahwach festival in Ouarzazate.

COOKING AND PAINTING WORKSHOP

Kasbah Assafar is an ideal stop for groups hiking in the Mgoun Valley. Meals prepared at the kasbah are offered. Artistic courses are also organized, supervised by professionals, and allow to discover the region, its culture and its inhabitants. The themes proposed are writing and plastic art, earth and land art, as well as watercolor and painting. All courses take place at Kasbah Assafar and participants are welcomed by the Boullouz family who offer a delicious traditional cuisine. The proposal of partnership between the association and the visitors is open.
